Few weeks ago, we started with one of our course module "Design away from Desktop" giving us a chance to explore other technological possibilities moving us away from traditional desktop learning and during this time I came across a technology called "Arduino" an open-source electronics prototyping platform based on flexible, easy-to-use hardware and software. It's intended for artists, designers, hobbyists, and anyone interested in creating interactive objects or environments.

Arduino can sense the environment by receiving input from a variety of sensors and can affect its surroundings by controlling lights, motors, and other actuators.
This board can be built by hand or can be bought from any online store easily with other useful devices in a kit. The software related to arduino can be downloaded for free.
Now im sure you would be curious to know more about it so you can visit this website for more details: http://www.arduino.cc/
The coolest thing is im a designer having no experience in programming domain, but got a hang of it pretty soon. It would take me some time to get used to it properly, but for the time being im having lots of fun using arduino making few basic stuff to work. I personally believe that this is a device which can give you the ability to develop some really creative ideas and practically accomplish it through this piece of technology.
So for now i will keep posting my progress on this topic and hoping to finish off my masters project on Arduino as well.
